Monday, June 2 marked the 29th annual John Kadlec Classic at the Winghaven Country Club in O’Fallon, Mo. Mizzou football Head Coach Gary Pinkel served as a celebrity team captain. Among the celebrity golfers were Mizzou legends Gary Link, Kim Anderson, Justin Gage, Wes Kemp and Gus Otto. Other Mizzou football coaches who golfed included Safeties Coach Alex Grinch, Quarterbacks Coach Andy Hill, Cornerbacks Coach Cornell Ford, Offensive Coordinator Josh Henson, Defensive Coordinator Dave Steckel, as well as Mizzou Sports Information Director Chad Moeller and Director of Operations Dan Hopkins. The tournament was put on by the Mizzou Tiger Club—St. Louis, and all proceeds from the tournament went to the Tiger Scholarship Fund and the Mizzou Athletic Department.
The golf tournament was recently renamed in honor of long-time Coach John Kadlec. Kadlec was an all-conference lineman at Mizzou in 1950 and served as an assistant football coach at Mizzou under Don Faurot, Frank Broyles, Dan Devine and Al Onofrio. The Winghaven Country Club was named one of Missouri’s top places to play by Golf Week Magazine.
